Celebrate Youth Talent and Creativity
The Junior Fair at the Orillia Fall Fair is all about celebrating the imagination, skills, and hard work of young people in our community! With opportunities for every age group—from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12—the Junior Fair is a highlight for families and a wonderful way for kids and teens to showcase their talents in crafts, baking, gardening, photography, and more.
Junior Fair Awards

Junior Fair Classes & Prizes
Class 1: Junior Crafts
Junior and Senior Kindergarten as of September current year
- Crayon drawing of a pumpkin. Maximum 8.5”x11”
- Treasures from a walk – a display of 6 items attached on white paper plate, not to exceed 10”
- Trace your hand, decorate and mount. Maximum 8.5”x11”
- Your favourite stuffed animal dressed for the fair.
- A colourful maple leaf mounted on paper. Maximum size 8 ½”x11”
Grade 1 & 2 as of September current year
- Hand puppet made from a paper bag.
- Leaf rubbing with coloured pencil. Maximum 8.5”x11”
- Make a picture using potato printing. Maximum 8.5”x11”
- Print your name and decorate on a sign for your bedroom door. Maximum 8.5”x11”
- Using playdough, plasticine, or clay create a pumpkin. Display on a paper plate max 10”.
Grade 3 & 4 as of September current year
- A handmade Halloween pumpkin decoration.
- A handmade sock puppet.
- Decorate a clay pot, pot must be empty (no larger than 4” in diameter).
- Hand-draw your first initial and decorate it on white paper. Maximum 8.5”x11”
- Recycle an empty water bottle and make a birdfeeder (must be ready to hang).
Grade 5 & 6 as of September current year
- A pencil drawing of a pumpkin. Colour with coloured pencils. Maximum 8.5”x11”
- Using a mason jar create a snowglobe (must be sealed).
- A popsicle stick creation (no larger than 10” in any direction). Display on a tray.
- A pencil sketch, any subject. Maximum 8.5”x11”.
- A decorated pair of gardening gloves.
Grade 7 & 8 as of September current year
- An Inukshuk, mounted on a sturdy base, must be securely constructed and no more than 10” tall.
- A charcoal drawing of a pumpkin. Maximum 8.5”x11”.
- A homemade Christmas tree ornament that can be hung.
- Create a Welcome sign.
- Create a split picture by cutting any picture in half and recreate the missing half.
Grade 9-12 as of September current year
- Any crocheted article.
- An item of needlework.
- Colour a page from an “Adult Colouring Book”.
- An original work of art containing a pumpkin, any media, ready to be hung, not to exceed 30” in any direction. Artwork must be framed.
- A quilted project.

- Four pieces of chocolate fudge.

- Four muffins incorporating pumpkins in recipe.
- One large cookie decorated in a fall theme, not to exceed 12”.
- Four cupcakes decorated in a theme.
Grade 7 & 8 as of September current year
- Four sugar cookies.
- One jar of homemade freezer jam (named).
- Four pumpkin squares
Grade 9 to 12 as of September current year
- One jar of cooked strawberry jam.
- Four brownies, not iced.
- One pumpkin loaf.
OAAS Special: Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition
- Open to all youth up to age 15 as of Dec 31, 2025
- Six plain chocolate chip cookies (2”-2.5” each, no nuts, displayed on sturdy plate)
- District and Provincial competitions available for winners!

Class 3: Junior Vegetables
Vegetables must be grown by the exhibitor.

- Vegetables must be grown by exhibitor.
- Entries will be judged using the Ontario Judging and Exhibiting Standards for Horticulture.

Please consider donating your fresh produce exhibits to the Salvation Army Food Bank. It can be placed in boxes provided upon removal of exhibits. Thank you.

Tips: Attach tags around vases with elastics. Put in suitable vase or container for height & weight of flower. Add water & rocks for weight if top heavy.
